YOUR PERSONAL
AUSTIN DOG TRAINER
In-Home Training
Training is done in your home, on your schedule and focused on your goals. Perfect for young (over 6 months old) or adult dogs who have one of many common behavioral challenges: leash pulling, barking/charging the door, inconsistency on basic commands like sit, stay, or come. In-Home training packages start at 3 sessions and focus on teaching your family how to properly interact with your dog and create the incredible balance of obedience and love that makes dog ownership such a joy.
Puppy Head Start
This training focuses on puppies between 10 weeks to 24 weeks. Your Longhorn Dog Ranch trainer will provide you with detailed instructions on environmental set up, introducing the crate, potty training, feeding schedule and much more. Basic commands like sit, down and stay will be introduced and reinforced with limited reliance on treats. Treats are a great tool but transitioning away from treats to verbal and physical praise will allow you to be your dogs loving alpha leader, not their treat dispenser! Puppy Head Start training can be done In-Home or coupled with our Doggy Daycare service.
Board and Train
Our Board and Train programs are great for clients with well-behaved dogs who have one of a few specific behavior challenges. Young pups or older dogs who have leash pulling issues or excessively bark/charge the door are good candidates for board and train. Our board and train service is designed to get your dog 80% of the way and provide you with the tools, knowledge and process to take them across the finish line. Consistent practice for 4-6 weeks after you pick them up is key to getting the most value out of this training style.
Full Behavior Modification
Behavior Modification is reserved for the most difficult challenges. These include separation anxiety, inner-household pet fighting, adult dog indoor elimination, and all forms of aggression (fear based, prey driven, possession, etc.) All behavior modification training starts with an In-home visit from a Longhorn Pet Services trainer to assess the situation and develop a training program. It’s important to understand Behavior Modification can be as much about teaching the owner how to manage the situation and avoid triggers. There are no magic trick or command for difficult and deeply imprinted behavioral challenges, but with the right plan and motivation these behavior challenges can be modified and managed to make life much easier.
